The project aims to create jobs for women as auto drivers in order to ferry their children to school and back home. The Project seeks to achieve social equity, empowerment and economic prosperity of women.
DM Foundation NGO fully understanding that there are many women in need, suggested DM Women Power project in 2007 in order to ferry Hyderabad’s children to school and back home. 5000 flyers have been send out to schools asking women drivers to be encouraged to ferry their children to school and back home. The government also granted us a Government Order lifting the ban for women but leaving a clause of 1 year of waiting period before driving. The project maingoals are to improve socio-economic conditions of women by offering them the opportunity to be auto drivers and to ferry their children to school and back home; to increase in safety for women and children, in social status and welfare of family, and finally to ensure safety for both woman and child. The results are positive since an annual income of 5.000/-INR now will be rising to a monthly income of 5.000/-INR allowing women to earn an asset for themselves. This economic independence will help next generations to have a better livelihood and for the women to stand for themselves. This project promotes the idea that every city should allow women be auto drivers for safety purpose and encourage their socio-economic background.
